Divine overview of Baal
Baal was worshipped as far back as three and a half millennia ago among ancient Semitic tribes, such as the descendants of Shem (believed by some scholars to be the oldest son of Biblical Noah) and as late as the Punic wars of the third century BCE. The word Baal means "master" or "owner" which, in ancient religions, denoted sun, lord or god.
